At OLDWOOD, we believe furniture should tell a story.
OUR CRAFT
Reclaiming Oregon Pine—historically known as Douglas Fir—is more of an excavation project than a simple shopping trip. Since old-growth Oregon pine is no longer harvested in the same way it was a century ago, most high-quality timber is "mined" from deconstructed industrial buildings, old barns, or Victorian-era homes. The process begins with carefully dismantling these structures to preserve the long, straight-grained beams. Once salvaged, the wood must be denailed by hand and kiln-dried to stabilize any moisture. Finally, the weathered exterior is milled away to reveal that signature honey-gold hue and dense grain, ready to be repurposed into modern flooring or furniture.
